Past purchases . . . how the heck do I get them back after my hard drive crashes.

My computer crashed and now I'm trying to reinstall ITunes and the songs I purchased in the past year. I can open ITunes but there's nothing in my library except for some free songs -- which I didn't even request or download. The support area is no help -- nothing on my screen matches either set of directions provided (old and new versions of ITunes).

iPod classic, Windows 7

Yup tried both of those things. Followed the link at "Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and ITunes Store" -- nothing in those directions matched what I saw on my screen. Signed in to my account, went to the Library as instructed, nothing there except two songs I didn't buy/download. Don't know what you mean by "You should be able to go to the app and re-download." You mean the iTunes program on my PC?? Been there, tried that. And yes, I'm dumb, I didn't maintain a backup copy of my computer -- but I'm past the self-flaggelation and trying to move on to restoring as much as I can.

You know, that's a really good question. And one I wish I could answer but since Apple doesn't follow the Windows example of providing the version number anywhere within the application, I can't say for sure which version I have. All I can say is that it's the latest one that's available on the Apple site since I downloaded and installed it today. What version is that I wonder?? In the help file there were instructions for version 11 -- steps didn't match what I had -- or version 10.7 or earlier -- also didn't match my application. Sheesh!
