How do I recover deleted files from an iPod?

I deleted 2 recordings that I had made on my iPod Touch by mistake.

I need a method of recovering those files.

I need to be able to mount the unit on my desktop so that I can use File Recovery Utility to get back the files.

Itunes grabs it when it is plugged in, so it doesn't appear on the desktoop

How do I get the IPod to mount.

Solved my own question..

I was able to mount the Ipod 4 as a Disk Drive using iExplorer software.

I then used standard FAT32 Disc Recovery software to scan the entire contents of the internal drive for deleted data. Nothing found. This is due to the Ipod Touch 4th generation using Flash Drive technology, once its gone, its gone. Flashed off the device like ROM / RAM, instead of leaving a ghost image behind like stanard disc drives.

Lesson learned. Do not use Itunes, until they have some type of software change in which synching does not wipe your device, never had this trouble on a Zune or Sony mp3 player.

Have you tried restoring from backup?

I have never seen a post in this forum where delete items could be recovered from a 3G or later iPod. They use hardware encryption. You can see:

Data Recovery for iTunes (now updated to more powerful iPod Recovery Mac) – a new yet powerful data recovery software for Mac users to directly recover deleted iOS device files or restore data via iTunes backup file (.sqlitedb). If you accidentally lost your iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch or deleted some files off the iDevice, then you can rely on the file recovery utility to restore them with ease.

Adawal-aziz, note the link yu provided states:

iPhone Recovery from iTunes – Recover lost files of iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, such as photos, videos, SMS, contacts, note, calendar and call history, from iTunes backup file, if they have been synced with iTunes.

Sounds like they try to recover them from the backup if the backup has been overwritten by a subsequent backup.

After that, you may check your iTunes backup first. If there is more than one backup available, you can select a previous backup. If you can find the right backup, you can recover lost data from iPod backup.
