How do you permanently delete apps from iTunes 11.0.1?

I've seen a few community discussions about this however it seems to be discussing the former version of iTunes. I have version 11.0.1 and when I right click to delete as has been instructed previously I don't get a delete option. In fact, I don't get any sort of option.

So, I'm hoping to get some sort of insight to delete some of these apps from iTunes that were trials... or silly games I downloaded when I was bored and never plan to play again. It just gets old sorting through them all.

Thanks!

Hi beccaruth,

Select the offending App, and then go up to the top and click on Edit. Then click Delete. You will be asked if you want to delete it from your Library - a Yes will do the trick!

Hi HarmWong,

See if this helps. It is from the iTunes 11 for Windows Apple Support site:

Delete an item from your library

  1. Click the item to select it, and press the Delete key.
  2. Click Delete Item.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • Remove the item only from your iTunes library: Click Keep File.
    • Delete the item from your computer: Click Move to Recycle Bin. The item is removed the next time you empty the Recycle Bin.

Removing an item from a playlist doesn’t remove it from your iTunes library or your computer. Deleting a playlist or folder doesn’t remove the songs from your library or hard disk.

When you delete a folder, all the playlists and folders inside that folder are also deleted.

If you can’t remove a song, make sure you didn’t select a song in a Smart Playlist with “Live updating” turned on.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Hi mewkiss,

It's always better if you are asking a question that you do not use a post that is 4 months old....better to start a new thread.

If you want to delete iPhone and iPad apps from your iTunes library, you need to select the App, then go to the Edit screen to delete. You can also click on the app, and then click on Control+click, and a dropdown with Delete on it will show up. Lastly, you can select the app and press the Delete key.

All three will present you with the same dialogue box:

User uploaded file

Note that as indicated above, it will not delete it from the i-device it lives on. To delete it from the i-device, press on the app icon on the device and hold until they all start to wiggle. The click on the "x" in the top left-hand corner.

I saw 2013 but not the month.

Anyway, I do not get the Delete option from the drop down in my tool bar. I also do not use a mouse.

I have seen instructions on CNET but I am not getting the Library on the left side of the screen.

All I get is a list of the apps and an option to install or remove from my phone. That's it.

All I want is to remove apps from iTunes on my Macbook that I never use or installed and hated.

It shouldn't be this hard. I have iTunes 11.0.4.

I'm sure it's something dumb I'm not seeing but..

Thanks

In iTunes 11.04. Mac

Go to LIBRARY top right corner (if you don't see it there you are already in LIBRARY)

Go to the arrow button selector thingy top left (next to the iCloud symbol) and select APPS

User uploaded file

Go to the middle top and select iPad (or iPhone/iPod touch - whichever has the app you want to delete)

Right click the app and select DELETE

How do you permanently delete apps from iTunes 11.0.1?
