How can Photo Booth photos be saved automatically?

once the photos are deleted from photo booth they disappear from the finder folder. is there a way to automatically have them saved even if they are deleted from photo booth? Example: I'm using the photo booth app as a real live photo booth at an upcoming event. because i don't want guests hands all over my laptop, i'm using a powermate button to remotely operate photo booth. the problem is once the photos are printed they need to be deleted so the next guest can take their photo (without touching my computer by having to move the curser) which causes photo booth to automatically be ready to take the next photo via the button.

Attach a folder action to the folder where PB stores its pictures so that anything deposited into the PB folder is automatically copied to another location. Assuming you're using 10.5.6 (as it says in you signature), open Automator:

1. Select the Custom template.

2. Insert one action: Copy Finder Items. Set the dropdown to copy files to a location of your choice.

3. File > Save As Plug-in . . .

>>>Save Plug-in As: COPYPB

>>>Plug-in for: Folder Actions

>>>Attached to Folder: Other > then navigate to and select the Photo Booth folder.

>>>Tick the Enable Folder Actions box and click Save.

To deactivate the folder action, navigate to your PB folder. Control-click on the folder, then More > Remove a folder action > COPYPB.scpt.

Okay, under 10.6.8, open Automator and

1. Select the Folder Action template:

>>>Folder Action receives files and folders added to > Other > then navigate to and select the Photo Booth folder.

2. Insert one action: Copy Finder Items. Set the dropdown to copy files to a location of your choice.

3. File > Save

>>>Save Folder Action as: COPYPB

Now you need to link and activate the folder action. Navigate to the PB folder. Control-click on the folder, then Services > Folder Actions Setup . . .

>>>Choose a Script to Attach: COPYPB.workflow

You'll see a Folder Actions Setup window.

>>> Tick Enable Folder Actions, Photo Booth, and COPYPB.workflow. Close the window.

Test.
