Q: Do I have to move images out of My Photo Stream to keep them?

I want to stop backing up my iPhone's Camera Roll in iCloud. But I want to keep all the photos. I want to get the photos onto my Mac and then backup my Mac onto my Time Capsule.

After a photo appears in My Photo Stream on iPhoto on my Mac (Macbook AIR), do I have to move it to another album to keep it? I read that Photo Stream only keeps 1000 photos so I'm worried that earlier images will be deleted from My Photo Stream. Thanks!

Nevermind, I found out there's a setting to automatically import My Photo Stream photos in iPhoto's preferences. That sounds like what I'm looking for

You need to read the PhotoStream documentation and learn how iPhoto works

PhotoStream is NOT a backup nor is it a place to store photos - it is a way to view recent photos on multiple devices

iPhoto can import photos from Photo stream - either autopmatically (set in the iPhoto preferences) or manually - you control that

When you import photos from PS they go into "events" - not into albums - events show the photos in your librrary, albums are used to organize photos

How Time Machine does its backups is determined by your setting in the TM preferences
