I have a 3yr old mac pro OS X, just recently on startup it taking around 5 minutes to load the tool bar, it started just after my Norton protection ran out, it starts with a grey screen and a bar at the bottom that shows something loading after that okay.

I have a 3yr old mac pro OS X, just recently on startup it taking around 5 minutes to load the tool bar, it started just after my Norton protection ran out, it starts with a grey screen and a bar at the bottom that shows something loading after that okay.

I have a 3yr old Mac Pro OS X just recently on startup its taking around 5 minutes to load the tool bar up. Now it goes into a grey screen with the apple in the middle and a bar appears at the bottom showing it starting up after it get to the end the tool bar appears, and everything is normal. This started happening just after my Norton protection ran out.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

My first step would be to get rid of "Norton protection". Boot from your OS 10.6 disc, navigate through your hard drivve and trash anything that is Norton. Empty the trash.

Next, run Disk Utility and ask it to repair the hard drive.
