Feb 15, 2013 9:50 AM in response to xsaraby Eric Root,You can do a reinstall by restarting and holding down the command - R keys to boot into the Recovery volume. Another option is to restart holding down the option/alt key. A reinstall shouldn't affect any other files, but a current backup is always the best safety net.
Why do you want to do a reinstall?
If you have a Time Machine backup, why aren't your programs backed up?
You can clone your hard drive before reinstalling.
