itunes not picking up iphone

i've connected my phone to the computer when i first got it(last night) and now my computer(pc) knows it's connected, but iTunes isn't picking it up? I've uninstalled, reinstalled iTunes. I was able to connect it to my husbands computer just fine. This is frustrating! It doesn't even show up as a device, but my computer makes the noise when something is connected into the USB port.
