Outlook doesn't show images

If I paste an image into an email from (for example) Safari and send it, it will show up perfectly in Mail but shows as a broken link in Outlook on Windows. Additionally, if I actually choose to show attach images manually the text often has unknow characters in Windows! This is terrifble! I am trying to show that I can use a Mac in a Corporate work space and I can't even share mail properly!!!

Hi Andy,

Thanks for your reply and helpful suggestions.

Yes, I do (and did) have that set. The fact that this can be un-set completely does my head in. I assume that this ensure that you have a 3-letter Windows compatible suffix, among other Windowsy things.

Yes, plain text does solve the problem - but I don't want to send plain text, so this is not an acceptable work around either.

Basically, Apple Mail is very good, but needs a couple of fixes fairly urgently as far as I can see. And don't get me started on iCal and Outlook / Exchange compatibility!

you're not the only one to report this problem & fwiw some users have no problems sending attachments to windows machines.... it's not as simple as Apple Mail + attachments = Broken link on Outlook . ( based on dozens of threads in this forum )

Some people have found that ensuring that there is no text after the images makes the attachments appear normally in outlook,

others find that they need to 'force' Mail to send the message using rich text/html formatting by specifically using italics,a different font, colour etc in the message text or signature. Mail doesn't actually use rtf/html formatting unless this is done, despite choosing 'Rich Text' when composing.
