Does 10.8 server save versions from preview.app

We frequently use preview to annotate pdf documents which are stored on our server. Currently I am working with a NAS server, which does not save the "versions" created by preview if the original pdf file is on the server. It just stores the updated file as soon as you make the change (without asking if you want to overwrite the current file) and the original version is lost.

Will Mountain Lion server change this?
