Syncing replacement iPhone

I synced a replacement iPhone and it tells me that there are no ringtones to sync, did I delete them?

iPhone 4S, iOS 5

restore the latest backup made of the old phone to the new one.

I did that - they didn't load, but it's no longer even appearing in my iTunes. I don't know what happened :-/
