iMac internal microphone not working

Won't work on Skype or when trying to record iMovies or Camtasia etc.

Downloaded Onyx.

Selected from menu: Cleaning/System then clicked Execute

Presto all restored to normal - hooray!

Ps in default mode under the System menu, Audio should already be ticked in the selection boxes, if not make sure it is before clicking Execute

I think I may have overloaded the mic when recording and it must have builtin cut-out switch, because when I was checking all the sound settings it was showing the internal mic as being in the "Off" mode.

Anyway, now I know how to fix it!

HEY GANG!!! - LISTEN CLOSELY FOLKS NEW 2012-13 IMAC RECORDS SOUND LIKE SH*%T. Internal dual mic set up is supposed to allow for cancellation- but it is not working. Warbles=nasty sound quality deserves attention from apple. I bought a snowballl plug in to use. . but its the principle ~ $2 K into a product it should work. . . . I think this may be a design flaw. internal dual mic meant to cancel each other out is not working = warbled nasty audio mess. Hound apple and let's get this fixed we've dropped too much cash to have to live with an inferior product. Geniuses get crackin'!!!

so for the mic to work in this new imac, their must be headphone connected!!!!!!. i guess so the speakers will not interfere with the microphone!!!!

this is the trick, when i take out the headphone , immediately disconnect the mic🙂

SO

CONNECT AN EAR PEACE OR HEAD PHONE TO THE BACK OF YOUR NEW IMAC, IMMEDIATLY YOUR MICS WORK
