How do I restart my iMac with time machine and 10.7 ?

I am in the habit of restarting my iMac on a weekly basis, and have recently attached a G Drive that I purchased from an Apple store and mounted on my desk top.

Is there anything I need to do that is special whenever I perform a restart? I am in the habit of putting my machine to sleep when not in use.

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Nothing. The external disk is unmounted automatically when you restart, so it doesn't get damaged restarting. Generally, the sleep mode is the best option, and a weekly restart is fantastic to keep your Mac fast, so don't worry about it and congratulations for your great maintenance of your computer
