My iphone 4 rapidly discharges its battery.

I need some help. About a day and a half ago, my iphone 4 started using its battery very quickly. I had not been using it heavily and I had not updated/installed any aps in the recent past. Since noticing the problem, I've tried cycling the power. I've turned off all the aps and I made sure I was up to date with current iOS.

It appears to be sending/receiving large amounts of data even with all the aps closed. It went from 100% to 87% in 1/2 hour with only light use. Although all aps are totally closed, it has sent 377kb and received 206kb in only 5 min. It is also warm to the touch when not in use. Any ideas?

Battery life consumption returns to normal if I turn off the celular data connection.

Has anyone else encountered this issue or know how to fix it?
