Trouble getting app to other devices

im trying to get an app on my iphone thats on my ipad. i went into the itunes store and under purchases downloaded the app, not realising that i go into the app store on the device i want to add it too and download from there, now the app doesn't appear on my iphone in the app store under purchased?
