How do i turn BT off?

Hi all,
as i searched though pages and pages i found no definitive answers....
I want to turn off my BT (and be able to turn it back on) and it is grayed out on the menu bar drop down list. When i go to BT prefs it is ON with nowhere to change that setting.
I reset PRAM, deleted BT's 2 pref files, and still i am beset with ON.
Any help?
Just for the record it's a Belkin F8T003 ver. 2
BTW, if there's no shutting BT off is unplugging the device like turning off BT?
Peace

Thanks RJ & Barry!
Yeah, Apple doesn't acknowledge it and when the usb unit is unplugged the menu item says: Bluetooth not available. Is that the same as turning BT off?
My reasons are i'm trying like crazy to get BT File exchange to work AGAIN and for the life of me i cannot figure it out. Following all the suggestions given (I asked that question in a different post), to no avail.
Thanks again for your replies.
Peace

Turning off Bluetooth is available for certain Bluetooth USB adapters only. If it is not available, then Apple does not support it for yours. Go for a D-Link DBT-120 USB adapter.

Nevertheless, could you explain your actual problem with Apple's Bluetooth File Exchange in more deeply. Turning off/on Bluetooth will not help you with any problem in that application.

Alexander, thanks for your interest in the BT file exchange problem - i actually posted a question on this...
Had been connecting to my cell phone flawlessly for file transfer via the "browse" menu, (a modded moto E815); recently had to do an Archive and Install, (which cleaned up a mess), and after everything was up and running, checked out BT File Exchange and it still worked flawlessly. A few days ago, i went to transfer a file and it starts, tries to connect, then i get the message: "Connection failed or closed". To add insult to injury, BTFE promptly crashes! Deleted pref files, made sure the Phone could connect via BT with other programs (which it does), and i don't have a clue... I tried reading the crash log file, and i can't make sense of it....
Again, thanks for taking the time. PS: I deleted the phone's profile, went through and paired it again with no joy.
Peace
