You can only update to IOS 5.1.1

If you are using IOS 4, you need to connect to iTune (computer) to update software.
Update to IOS 5.1.1

When you say iTunes (computer), you mean i do it from my iPad correct? Not a desktop! Right?
You have to connect to iTune (computer) and Check for Updates
Make sure all content is transferred and device is backed up before you update.
