How do I play movies through my iPad VGA adapter?

I can't get any of the movies I purchased on iTunes to play through my VGA adapter on my iPad2. "The connected display is not authorized to play protected movies." That was the main reason I bought the adapter...to hook it up to my projector. Is there a fix for this?
