I thought the same thing. The camera should work w/imovie; however, for some reason it is not detecting it. Nothing happens when I plug the camera into the computer and hit usb connect . Also tried clicking on the camera icon above the "Event Library" the facetime camera opens and doesn't give me an option to change the camera. Also have tried clicking on File and import from camera. That also opens the facetime camera w/no other options.

Tried your suggestion. Same results, nothing, other than the facetime camera option.

Perhaps some of Apple's Help articles will help you?

(1) Your HDD based DCR-SR68 can't record directly into iMovie.

Tape based camcorders can. Full info: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2155

If your system is working properly, iMovie can import AVCHD video clips from your DCR-SR68.

(2) To import clips from your DCR-SR68, those clips

must have been recorded in AVCHD video format.
