How to downgrade from utility airport 6.2 to 6.1?
With the new uprgrade to the version 6.2, i can't play music on my airport express wi-fi.
Is it possible to downgrade to the 6..1 version?

Download the standalone installer AirPort Utility 6.1 for Mac and install it.
Hi Kappy,
Download the standalone installer AirPort Utility 6.1 for Mac and install it.
If you try this, you will see this message:
And......if you try to delete or uninstall 6.2.....the Mac will not let you do this unless you have the Terminal commands handy.
If you manually extract the 6.1 application and can manage to rename it, it might co-exist with 6.2, so you might be able to choose the version that you want to use.
I doubt that this will solve the issue.....since we are also dealing with a firmware upgrade here as well, but you never know.
You need to remove the current version. Then the installer will not find a version present and allow th older version to be installed. I've done this successfully with 5.6.1 and 6.0 and 6.1.
You may need to use the Terminal to erase the current version if you get the alert that you cannot delete it because it's needed by OS X.
Installing it will most require using Pacifist.
I just did this.

You most definitely will need to use Terminal to delete the current version.
I still think this is a firmware issue, not an AirPort Utility issue, but we will see.
I've done this numerous times, so the method works. Granted it's a bit more complex than double-clicking on an installer application. It may a bit much for someone who is not comfortable doing new things on a computer. But if it's easy for me, then it's got to be a snap for you. When it comes to this stuff you are the master and I am the student. 🙂
I'll bet you know the Terminal commands to delete the newer version of AirPort Utility by heart. I would have to look them up...and even then the Terminal is a scary place I do not like to be. 😉
Before performing major surgery like this, it might be worth a try to roll back the firmware on the Express to see if that might be the ticket. That's very easy to do...and will only take a few minutes to try.
Isn't the firmware only upgradeable online? I ask because new firmware doesn't always accompany new software.
That's new isn't it?
Been around since AirPort Utility 6.0 was first introduced.
Older versions of AirPort Utility 5.x. just open the utility, click Manual Setup and click on the word "Version" and all available firmware will display.
Yes, that's "new."
I edited the message above. Same deal on any previous 5.x version of AirPort Utility going back at least 5 years.
Not sure where "new" ends. 😁
Never noticed it. Probably because I've never had a need to downgrade the firmware. 😎
Alternatively, we could work on why the OP (world7) is having trouble playing music through the AirPort Express.
Thanks.
The downgrade of the airprot's firmware was my first move, but didn't solve the problem, that came with the release of the last week of the utility airport 6.2.
With this release it's impossible for me to use the AirPort Express and the Apple TV wirless to play music.
It happens only to me?
Please help.
