Ical is asking me for a password, so I put in my apple id password ( the same one i guess for itunes etc) and it doesn't recognise it. any suggestions?

Your iCal password is your iCloud password (if you are syncing it with iCloud). Many people have different login for iCloud to that for iTunes, and it's easy to get them confused. Is this the case here?
