I have an Iphone 4, and im just now attempting to create my own ringtones. My problem is that i do not have a "tones" folder in itunes version: 11.0.1.12. Nor do i have one when i sync my phone to itunes. i can convert and make it as far as creating the tone, i just dont understand why i dont have the folder to be able to sync. Rather upsetting! I just hope i didnt miss my chance to create my own. :/

Computer iTunes > Preferences... (Windows: Edit > Preferences...) > General > Tones (in Show) must be checked.

Hopefully you can help me too. I have successfully been able to create a tone - was able to change its extension to .m4r and also was able to actually put it into the tone folder - which all took about 4 hours. ;-)
But now when I sinc with my IPhone 4, the tone does not sinc into my sounds folder. I hate to have wasted so much time doing everything else right and not be able to use my special tone. Please help... Thanks-
The tunes need to be 30 seconds or less in lenght
They are - one is 10 seconds and one is 20 seconds.
When you synced did you select either ALL tones or Selected tones and then tick the ones you want to sync?
I have the button "sync only checked music and videos", then I found the two tones and checked them. I synced and only one showed up - under "RIngtones" and not "Text tone". I would like both audios and created them for the text tone. I am new to Apple products, except for Itunes.
There must be a difference between ring and text tones. There is a free app called Ringtones and it creates both types of tones. It also has a link to a video that shows how it is done. In the App Store you will find it. It is the app called Ringtones and has an icon with a musical note within a circle

You have to check them in "Tones" tab in tunes, not the "Music" tab.
They are under the tones tab. I changed them from m4a to m4r extensions. My other problem is only 1 of my tunes was synced.
I just made a ringtone using Ringtones by Blackout Labs and that worked great. I then created a text alert (6 seconds vs 30 seconds for ringtone). When I synced with the phone, it still went under my ringtones and not text alerts. 😟

The app has two feature -- one is the ringtone feature which is used with the button on the left and the other is text tone button on the right when you open the app
I did that. The ringtone button allows to record up to 30 seconds and the text up to 6 seconds. But when I save it to ITunes, they go into the same file. I must be doing something wrong with the transferring it to ITunes, but I just don't know how to do that. My ringtones are working great with this program. but my 6 second text alert is being synced to the ringtone section of my sounds and not the text alert.
