battery problem with my macbook pro

i have a macbook pro thats about one year old and the battery barely holds the charge anymore.

whenever i unplug the battery, the power goes from 100% all to 57% in less than a minute. from there, it will drain pretty quickly to 0% in less than 30 minutes.

wonder if anyone else have experience this kind of problem...

most laptop batteries should last 3-4 years. i have a dell inspiron that's over 5 years old and it can last longer than my mbp running on battery power.

i wonder if apple will be willing to replace the battery...

That battery is clearly damaged. I suggest you to take the Mac to an Apple Store or reseller to get it replaced as soon as possible.

Also, just to see your battery information, open System Information or System Profiler app, select "Power" in the sidebar" and copy here "Charge Information" and "Health Information"

You've virtually no juice remaining in your battery and it must be replaced. Odd that you have only 156 cycles on it though - especially since it's just a year old. Are you still under warranty or did you purchase the AppleCare extended warranty? If so, you should get a free battery because yours is clearly defective. It's always worth asking about...

As Clinton said, your battery status is "Service Battery". Just take the Mac to an Apple Store or reseller to get it repaired.

It looks like your battery was defective, because it has got only 156 cycles. If you want to know how much the battery replacement will cost, see "Battery Replacement" > http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=Macn otebooks
