Which media player? Do the files play in alternative apps like VLC? What is the file type and compression format for these files? Which ist it—the files play and then crash or the app crashes as soon as the files load? If both, are the files of the same type and compression format? When you say HD, are you referring to 720p, 1080p, or something larger and at what data rate? At this point is difficut to know if you are referring to "normal" 5-13 Mbps H.264/AAC HD files in MOV/MP4/M4A containers or something more exotic like a 30 Mbps VC-1 BD video in a an MKV file container.

If referring to the QT X player, the current pattern has been for Apple to release the player update when a new Mac X OS is released.

Doesn't sound good—especially in view of your follow-up post. Have you tried opening the app using a different user account. This could indicate whether the problem is local to the user account or global to your system. Problem could be as simple as a corrupted preference file or orphaned "recent" file reference to either the player being corrupted or the embedded QT structure being corrupted.

I Feel alot better seeing it work. Id really like to get it running on my user account again, is this possible?

Sorry for the delay. I'm not a reqular QT X user so I actually had to search around my user account until I could locate the local QT X Player preference file. Think I have finally located it. Use the "Finder" Go menu to open the invisible "Library" folder for your main user account. I.e., sign in to your main user account, activate your "Finder" by clicking on your Desktop, then hold down the "option" key while you click on the "Go" menu and select the "Library" option. Once your user account "Library" folder opens, use the following path to locate the local "com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX.plist" file:

~/users/named_user_account/Library/Containers/com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX/Data/Li brary/Preferences

NOTE: Using the "Go" menu you are starting off in the first "Library" folder in the path given above...

Locate the "com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX.plist" file in this final folder and drag it to your desktop for the time being. (It should be easy to spot since it is one of the few non-aliased files in this folder.) Now open one of your movies that used to play in the QT X Player v10.2 and wait to see if a new preference file is created to replace the one you moved to the Desktop. (I usually just "drag n' drop" the video file to the QT X player icon in the dock since most of my files are configured to open in the QT 7 Pro player when douple-clicked.) You may want to use a video that is either not in your QT X "Recent" list or, at least, one that isn't at the top of the list since it appears it is the udating of this list that "kickstarts" the creation of the new preference file on my system.)

In any event, if this is the file that is causing your problem, then your QT X Player should begin to function correctly again. If this does work, then trash the old file and keep the new one. If not and/or you are not able to create a new preference file, you still have the old file available to restore to the folder. Good luck and let us know what happens in any event.
