Could someone please tell me how to set a power on password for my imac
iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
Thank you.....i am sorry - i have very little knowledge.
I didnt see where the directions were applicable to my version (10.8.2)
You're right. I could have sworn that document covered Mountain Lion, but now I cannot find any mention of a firmware password for Mountain Lion.
I assume it may have been eliminated now that Mountain Lion's FileVault 2 provides full disk encryption obviating the need for a firmware password.
OS X (Lion/Mountain Lion)- About FileVault 2
OS X- How to create and deploy a recovery key for FileVault 2
Given that setting a power on password used to be the recommended way to disable firewire DMA - anyone have any idea how to do that now (short of removing the .kext)
It's moved a bit, since Lion isn’t distributed on DVD.
The directions are basically the same as for Leopard, except that instead of booting from DVD, you need to boot to the recovery partition by holding down the option key while rebooting, and choosing the Recovery HD.
