How do I edit iPad Safari bookmarks?

When I set up my iPad almost 3 years ago, I simply pulled my existing Safari bookmarks, junk and all, on to my iPad. Now I want and need to clean up and reorganize those bookmarks, and I can't see how to move existing items to new folders, or to execute other moves that would move items through a hierarchy.

I've been having severe Safari crashes for more than a year, and I would like to prune bookmarks to see if this would help.

iPad, iOS 5.0.1, 32G with 3G

Tap the bookmarks icon and then tap Edit in the upper right corner of the bookmarks window. You can move them up and down by dragging them using the 3 horizontal ones next to the bookmarks. You can also delete bookmarks by swiping across them to bring up the red delete button.

After you tap the Edit button you should also see a New Folder Button at the top of the bookmarks window.

is there a video of this somewhere? Your instructions do not comport with what I see on the screen; bookmarks do not have arrows, only folders have arrows, which indicate a further level of organization.

I am using an original iPad with the current version of iOS that runs on it, so it is not running iOS 6.
