Journal video do not play on some Mac

Hi,

I've created a iPhoto Journal on Ipad and uploaded to the Cloud, but video embedded into it will not play on an older Mac mini.

Viewing it on a iMac with 10.8.2 all works fine.

Viewing it on a Mac Mini on 10.6.8 the videos will not play.

Safari: QuickTime controls show up but video will never play. Console says: FlateDecode: decoding error: incorrect data check.

Firefox: message on screen about Quicktime is required to play. Console says: invalid drawable

However, other video like the Apple IPad mini keynote and adverts do play on the Mac mini 10.6.8 machine without any problem.

Any idea what to look after?

Thanks in advance.

I posted a similar problem to the forum - see https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4828218?tstart=0, in that I don't see any QuickTime controls at all in my published journal. It sounds like you've at least managed to see them somtimes, which is at least more than I've managed! What file format are your videos in? I created mine using Handbrake to create .mp4 files from the original .MOV files, which is what my camera created. I've tried to view my journal using Firefox and Safari (both on a iMac running 10.8.2) and using Safari on my iPad, and on none of them do I see any video controls.

I'm afraid that I can't offer any insights about your own problem. Sorry about that.

Based on your feedback I was able to get my .mp4 files to play on my iPhoto Journal by passing them through iMovie before re-importing them into iPhoto. Not the simplest mechanism, but at least they appear to work. Unfortunately I can't reproduce the problems you are experiencing since I only have access to MacOSX 10.8.2.

Good luck with getting some response to your problem!
