I cannot empty my trash no matter what I do. My computer is acting up in other areas as well but it's telling me that I'm running out of space so emptying the trash, I thought, would be a great solution...if only I could. Thank you in advance for your assistance!!!

Give this a try: Trash It! 5.1.
I went to download Trash It! but I cannot...I don't have enough disk space...so I'm told. That is why I'm trying to purge the trash. Ah, so frustrated. An other ideas?
Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder. At the prompt paste the following:
sudo rm -rf ~/.Trash
Press RETURN. You will be prompted for your admin password. It will not echo to the screen. Press RETURN again.

I should mention I'm not very tech savvy...but I have been able to follow your directions.

Did you type in the command or paste it in at the prompt? "001ec2c2dfe9" was not the commandline.
WAIT! Maybe it worked after all....my "trash can" is EMPY! WOOHOO Thank you Kappy!🙂
