Instagram won't connect to Facebook

I can't seem to connect my Instagram to my Facebook. When I go to share my Instagram on Twitter, Tumblr, Flickr, etc. it works fine and connects. However, when I click on Facebook I get the error message: "Facebook Login Failed - Make sure you've allowed Instagram to use Facebook in iOS Settings > Privacy > Facebook." I went there and Instagram wasn't even listed. I uninstalled both apps, reset my iPad, removed Instagram from my Facebook, reinstalled both apps, tried to connect with Facebook again yet it keeps showing the same error message. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I figured it out. What you need to do is uninstall instagram. Install it again. When you open the app, tap on register. Then click use Facebook info. Allow Facebook to use instagram. Then go back and sign in with your instagram username. This should work since I had the same problem! Hope this helps!!

Sorry for posting in the Ipad thread but I have an iPhone 6 running iOS 9.1. and spent 2.5 hours tonight trying to troubleshoot why Instagram wasnt linking / sharing to my personal Facebook page.

I tried every logical solution suggested here & in other threads... e.g deleting both apps > reinstalling apps; settings > facebook > delete user > add user; Facebook > search instagram app > send app request to mobile; settings / privacy > Facebook; etc etc etc. I linked all other accounts to Instagram (Flickr / Tumblr / Twitter) but no luck with Facebook. Through the many trials & tribulations, I realised that I couldn't login to the Facebook website through Safari but I was able to login to my FB account through both iPhone settings & FB app.

And the solution...

Settings > Safari > Privacy & Security > Block Cookies - Allow (from Website I visit).

Hope this proves helpful to anyone reading through this thread!

Hi Everyone,

it would appear that by following these steps I am still stuck:

  1. In Facebook, it says that it is connected to Instagram.
  2. In Instagram every time I try to link the accounts it works, then I sign out of Instagram and when I sign back in (using password), the accounts are un-linked.
  3. In addition to that, when I try to log in to Instagram using Facebook, it launches a web-browser rather than launching the Facebook application for verification.

I've tried changing cache settings, downloading and deleting the applications, etc. This only happened after IOS 9.1 upgrade 😟

Thoughts? Help!

Austin

This tends to sort it all out, well for the IPhone anyway:-

Step 1:

Go to Settings > Facebook > (Your Name) > Delete Account & delete your account.

Step 2:

With your account detached from your iPhone. Open Instagram > Setting > Share Settings > Connect to Facebook. Follow the normal steps to "Allow Instagram to Post on your behalf."

Step 3:

Go back to your iPhone's Settings & recconect your Facebook Account to your phone.

Tada!

WoW Wow! THANK YOU!!

I was getting "Make sure you've allowed Instagram to use Facebook in iOS Settings > Privacy > Facebook." as an error message for over a week! I wrote to facebook support but to no avail :-( and no answer! I tried deleting and reinstalling both applications, and then signing into instagram using my facebook info ( register in instagram using facebook account) but that didn't work either.

I tried EVERYTHING in this forum and this is the ONLY one that worked!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!

I think the underlying issue has to do with the e-mail addresses, my Instagram e-mail was not in my facebook account (which at some point annoyingly defaulted to @facebook.com) added my Instagram e-mail address to facebook (and made it facebook's priamry e-mail).

Pooly7's workaround probably works for similar reasons, at the "Register" stage you're not signed in to Instagram so there's no e-mail address conflict with your facebook account.

@Pooly7 You don't know how much you've made my day! I have been struggling trying to re-connect my Instagram account to Facebook again as I've recently changed a new phone. I'd tried everything it said on the web and spent the whole day trying to fix it.

Your method is the only one that works! Eureka!!! Thanks so much!

@mish18 Try restoring your phone. Just make sure to back up anything you don't want to lose. In settings don't sign into tumbler or whatever app you're having trouble with, just log in through the app. As long as I don't sign in through settings I don't have trouble. Good luck & hope it helps!

agreed ... and their solution doesn't work on this issue. It worked fine ... until it didn't ... now when I try to share an instagram photo to facebook, it takes me to Safari and tells me to log in ... when I do, it still just shows me the log in page again. When I copy the URL to Chrome and then log into FB it says that I have already connected my FB account to instagram. When I start instagram all over again, I have the exact same issue ... groundhogs day ...
