Feb 17, 2013 3:00 PM in response to Paul2210by deggie,There are some tips here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356
Check your Canon manual and make sure you have the latest firmware on your printer (you can do this from the front panel), make sure the iPad and printer are connected to the same network, and try resetting the router, printer and iPad.

Feb 17, 2013 9:21 PM in response to deggieby Paul2210,Thanks for the reply. I went to the Irish canon site and tried to download an update for the firmware but got a response that none was available.
I think these products should not be allowed the AirPrint logo unless they are already configured or update their software automatically. Probably time to try and return it to the retailer!

Jun 12, 2014 2:30 AM in response to Paul2210by DscheyH,I have the same printer Canon MG4250 and had the same issue after an OS X update.
After several other trials this helped:
in System Settings > Printers and Scanner > then click on the "+" button.
I got these entries:
When I tried the entry Bonjour or Bonjour Multifunction I could not connect to the printer resp. it was not shown in the printers to add.
After selecting the entry "Canon IJ Network" it worked for me.
