What DVI adapter do you have now?
The Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter plugs into the computer's Thunderbolt port. Be sure to push the plug in all the way (no metal showing).
You could also use a HDMI (M) to DVI (F) adapter with the computer's HDMI port.
Plug the display's USB cable into the computer.
Note: the above adapters are for displays up to 1920 x 1200. For the 30" display you will need the dual-link adapter.
I have been using MacBook(2006) connected to CinemaDisplay(Aluminium, Silver colour housing). Now I purchased New MacBook Pro 13inch(No Retina) and the adapter did not match to the new Mac Book Pro.
My CinemaDisplay is not 30", it is the smallest one. So I will get the adapter you intially adviced.
I will make sure to push the plug in all the way . Thank you.
