How do you type an exponent in Pages '09?

Using the key stokes you recommend Karen I am able to type the exponent but how do I turn off exponents? I tried following the same series but that doesn't seem to work. Thanks

Yes, you can make anything you want, even an entire sentence, an "exponent" by using the menu items for changing the baseline. Many word processors have this feature.
