Attachments are opening automatically rather than waiting to be clicked; makes saving the pdf attachment difficult. Is there a setting to change?

I am receiving message which contain pdf attachments. In several cases the attachments are opening as the email downloads difficult to save and work with. Is there a change in settings I should make?
