IOS mail sending attachment

With icloud mail instructions it tells me that to add an attachment I click the paperclip in the toolbar below the From field.

The fields I have are - To:

Cc:

Subject:

There is no from field and nothing below that. I'm sure this is something straightforward but can't find what it is, any ideas?

Thanks

Double tap the screen, in the empty body of the email and you'll see an option toolbar appear. To attach content other than photo/video, share from within the app that containst the content.

In other words, to send a document, open that document and tap the share button. You'll see the option to email.

I am at a loss as to what icloud does, I set up the mail as per instructions and I now discover there's icloud mail and ipad mail. I don't know what icloud is meant to do, I try to sync it with my pc and can't access anything.

markwmsn seems to have hit the point. I could do with an idiots guide to working an ipad, icloud and all the rest of this gubbins, the elctronic guides are brief and not very well written.

Thanks for your help

icloud is for syncing and backing up data and content on your ipad. For example, I sync my contacts, calendars, mail, notes, documents and photos between my ipad, imac, macbook and ipod. Any calendar entry, document or photo I create on my ipad, will show up on all my other devices with out any effort on my part(once its all set up).

I also have my the content on my ipad and ipod backed up to icloud everyday, automatically. (you get 5gb of free storage, but can purchase more if necessary).

I prefer to use icloud over itunes on a computer, primarily because I don't have to think about it. It works great for me. However, I do periodically backup my devices to my macbook just to make sure I have another backup of my data.

If you can explain a little more about what you're trying to do, maybe I can be of more help other than just posting a bunch of article links.

But here's some more.

Oh, and icloud mail is part of the regular mail program on your ipad. You recieve a free icloud mail user name when you create your apple id.

example. if your create and apple id called 'newipaduser@gmail.com, you also get 'newipaduser@icloud.com'. which I believe has been changed to 'me.com'.

Just an email account that uses apples cloud servers. You don't really need it, but you have it.

It's the other way around, GrumpyGator. There was mac.com (".Mac"), then me.com ("MobileMe"), and now icloud.com ("iCloud"). (There were others before ".Mac" that I omitted.)

HughieG, it would help if you would tell us what other sorts of computing environment (if any) are familiar to you. That is, are you jumping into the iPad and iCloud cold, have you had a Mac or PC before, or some other experience?

There are a number of starter books for iPads and iCloud, depending on your experience level and learning style.
