synching calendars

I have an iPhone 5 and a macbook pro with OS X 10.6.8. I also have an iPod touch with iCal that I got with the laptop.

I am having trouble synching my calendar events. Sometimes events double up in my phone. Today, after I added events in iCalendar in my phone, the new events wouldn't synch over iCloud and show up in iCal in my macbook. I turned off iCloud synch for the iCal. This did add the new events to the laptop iCalendar, but, all the old events in iCal on the computer showed up with anywhere from 2 to 6 duplicates per event.

Please help!
