LCP Timeout with server 10.8.2 VPN
Does anyone else have a problem with VPN on a Mac Mini... I will intermittently receive LCP timeouts when trying to connect using PPTP... I can connect Using L2TP with no problems at all. Any thoughts?

Hi Guys,
OK.. I seem to have it working like it should now... no problems logging in PPTP or L2TP... Problem is I don't know how I fixed it. :-0. ( I haven't had time to research it)
the only thing I did was go back to the router and reconfigure the following port s and settings.
Port Forwards on the 2wire Modem/Router.
Port 500 (UDP)
Port 1701 (UDP) (for L2TP)
Port 1723 (TCP) (for (PPTP)
Port 4500 ( I used two definitions one for UDP and one for TCP on the same port.)
I have a suspicion that You may need to do this when working with "Winders" machines NOt sure though. Like I said I haven't had time to piddle with it since it's working.
I do know that every thing has to be just right for VPN to work correctly. Also check this handy link or Mac port usage. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1629
Well, good work, thanks for the report! 🙂
Mostly I've found VPN problems aren't with the MIni itself. but usually with some other piece of hardware... In my case I suspect it was the Router.
