harman/kardon soundsticks II wireless ios 6 problems

Hello there!

I have the harman/kardon soundsticks II wireless, and since i´ve upgraded for the ios 6 i´m always having droupouts with the bluetooth connection, with my ipad 3 and my iphone 5.

With the ios 5 it worked just fine!

Does anyone have the same problem?

Is there any tip/trick to solve this problem?

Thank you and best regards from Portugal!

I plugged the speakers into a Logitech Squeezebox Radio via the 3.5mm jack, and I can still crank the volume to insane levels, HOWEVER, the Squeezebox output is a headphone jack with variable control. Apart from a loud annoying buzz/noise when the Squeezebox is turned on or off, and sound is fantastic! The Bluetooth connection also works fine with my Blackberry PlayBook; if only it would work with the iPad I would be all set.

Thanx for testing this, it seemed unlikely but you never know.

HK makes a mess of product support. This problem exists since oct 2012 and nothing has been done about it. I think your only hope is with Apple, downgrading their BT-version in iOS7, but there are no signs of such a move.

I returned my set half a year ago and agreed with HK i would be informed about their progress in finding a solution. I never heard anything. HK stinks big time, at least in customer support.

Return your set, it doesn't do what it says it does.

Yes. It's really frustrating. I think Hk shud do a lot of testing before they release this. All the apple shops in singapore stills sells this but it's always not on demo .I guess they are having problems I assume. I went to Hk singapore they I tested 3 sets over there and still having the same problem . Their solution is to replace a new unit . But it's still having the same issues. In my opinion , i feel that Harmon kardon needs to do a product recall ! . The reason I bought this is for the blue tooth with my iOS devices and non of them working perfectly with it ... For my 3GS to ipad 3 and iPhone 5 .

I wonder if Hk hears this ? , I hope that apple rectify this in their upcoming updates .... Do you realise it takes ages to turn of the blue tooth in the new devices ?

Hope there's. someone will post a solution here !

If HK posts the solution (unworked one) of this problem on their website like this. It seem like we will not have any better answer from them. So this problem will remain unsolved, even on iOS7.

Also, I think that is not our responsibility to contact Apple to fix this issue in next iOS update, since we don't really know the root cause of this issue. HK should be responsible for cooperating with Apple in order to solve this issue. If anyone currently contact with HK supports, please tell them to admit this problem and work together with Apple to solve this problem for the sake of their Consumer and their own brand.

Thanks

I live in the Netherlands. I'm having the same problem. I bought the set about 2 weeks after the release date, and a month later I began trying to solve this.

+2 weeks ago I brought them back to the store I bought them from (iCentre) and they are trying to fix it. The sent it to a service centre and now it's allready 2 weeks in reparation. Monday I will hear what's the solution. I'll try to update you.

Hi, I live in Thailand

I faced with a problem of unstable bluetooth connection between H/K soundsticks III wireless and ios 6. Although Apple had updated ios 7, the problem still occurs. Surly, it causes me very upset. I’m just wondering that apple could have fixed this problem before issued ios 7 but why they did not fix it.

I would like to tell Apple that please helps us to solve this trouble.

Thanks

To all people who still think this issue can be solved through an iOS update: Forget it. There is nothing wrong in iOS and most certainly IOS does not have code to overrule behaviour of third party hardware. Apple uses BT 4.0 while HK Soundsticks use 2.1. That should work, but not in HK's case. There is something wrong in their drivers.

This problem has to be solved through a firmware update but we all know there is no way to update anything as a customer. No USB-port or whatever digital connection. The only way HK can solve this is through a callback action, and they clearly don't like that idea.

I have issued them for a solution 8 months ago, but got only evasive answers and fake "solutions".

Closing all Apps won't help, nothing will.

If you want to use these sticks through Bluetooth with an iOS device you got a problem. Return them and wait for something that resembles the BT sticks in sound quality, price and design. I am, for 8 months already. Nothing comes close. Good luck.

Hi Cashraker,

You are right , i have return and exchange 3 times of the same set to HK singapore. The problem still persist, even Hk kardon advises us to close all apps. I have even off all radio and wifi signals and the problem still persist. From my opinion the only way is to have a call back for all HK soundsticks wireless. Their latest product have put them into a badlimelight. There wasn't any proper response and they are still selling it in apple store singapore. Most of the stores have the demo unit turn off, they would not dare to demo with the bluetooth but only via cable jack and the only good connectioni get can is in via my Macbook pro.

I really hope they rectify this before more reputation damage is done. i am using airport extreme to hook up to this set at the moment. It is such an dissapointment.

I HOPE HK hears this . The support from them is bushwacking around the bush.

Ok Guys, let me try to help you. I had the same problem as you all described. Then I started looking in different communities, such as "car-bluetooth connections" etc.

There I found the solution for our problem. It's not your HK Soundsticks, it's simply your iPhone.

You need to reset network settings and get rid of all the junk that was saved in the "background" of your phone!

Go to Settings>general>reset>network settings

This will reset and clear Bluetooth and the phone will reboot. You will lose your WiFi passwords but the convinience of having bluetooth on this great soundsystem is totaly worth it!

I hope this is going to work for you too.

I have to admit, you were right Brettperso. After the connection worked fine for a couple of hours, the annoying problems came back.

Here is what I did since my last post:

1) Ordered the Soundsticks III for a much better price.

2) Ordered the great working (and I've been using them for a week now) Logitech Bluetooth Speaker Adapter for 25€

3) Sent back Wireless Soundsticks to Amazon

Now I can enjoy the great sounding SSIII with the awesome working Logitech Adapter AND btw saved some money.

This could be an alternativ for many of you experiencing trouble connecting your Apple devices iOS 6+ to the Soundsticks.

Cheers

Hello there!

I've finally solved this big problem!

I quit using the Bluetooth system from the H/K and i bought today the Logitech Bluetooth adapter and it works perfectly with the H/K and its very cheap (for about 40 dolars) and easy to use, i didnt had more dropouts anymore!

See it here: www.logitech.com

Good luck for you all 2!
