I'm trying to change the privacy settings so I can directly save images from google chrome to my photo library, but whenever I try I'm told I need to change my privacy settings. Upon going to settings, there's no "Privacy" icon available. I've looked around and this seems to be the case with all iPad 1s. How, then, can I change these settings?

I think in iOS 5 you go to Settings>Location Services>On and then you should be able to allow saving of photos from the browser. Try that.

My location services is already set to on, so no luck there.
Is been so long since I was running iOS 5 ..... At the bottom of Location Services go to System Services and see if there is something in there to enable.
Everything is set to on in system services, no change.
What is the exact message that you are getting in Google Chrome when you try to save a photo? And can you save a photo when using the Safari browser?
From Chrome: Cannot save image. Google Chrome does not have access to your photos or videos. Enable access in iOS Settings > Privacy > Photos
Saving photos works just fine on Safari.
I haven't abandoned you, I am wracking what is left of my feeble brain trying to find out what we are missing here.
That exact path that you are being told to take is to enable photo saving is for iOS 6. Settings>Privacy>Photos.

I figured that was the issue. Do you know of a way to use an earlier version of Chrome? That could fix the problem.
The only way that I know to get to an earlier version would be to retrieve it from your computer - if you had an earlier version in iTunes. You cannot download earlier versions of apps in the App Store once the app is updated.
Darn, I'm already updated to the newest version.
Looks like I might be stuck using Safari - for this at least.

So I tested Chrome in iOS 5 and it did not ask me to change my privacy settings. At this point, I would suggest either checking for updates (for Chrome), or deleting and reinstalling. I'll investigate further shortly, but just wanted to pop in so Demo knows I'm checking this out 😎.
I've tried reinstalling (twice) and there are no updates available. I even tried a complete reset to factory settings to see if that would help, but to no avail.
Can you screenshot the exact message Chrome is giving you?
Also, did you try going to the Settings in Chrome, as opposed to your iPad's settings?
Same issue here: iPad 1 as up to date as Apple will support, but apps written for iOS6 want a change in my nonexistent privacy settings to access my photo album. Tumblr is the latest I've tried.
