backing up your iphone?

I have purchased a new Macbook Air, however my iphone 4s is synced onto my old Macbook..

I have already backuped my iphone to my new macbook and my old macbook..but if i erase and sync my iphone to my new library and back it up, will it allow me to use my new library, and keep my messages( +etc.)
