To check if the Mac can see the MP530, open System Information (Applications > Utilities) and select the USB entry in the left column. The top right pane will show all the USB busses on your Mac and the MP530 should be shown under one of these busses. If no show, try the USB cable and USB port test again, but now with the System Information open you will see what the Mac sees. Note that after making a change you can press Command R to refresh the view.

Thanks but still doesn't work. I tried each port and the system information never detected the printer. Open to any other suggestions.  Any idea why it would just stop detecting the printer?

If System Information does not show it on any port, then it is either the cable or the printer itself. I see above that you already tried another USB cable/s. So that would leave the printer. Try turning the printer off and unplugging the power cord and USB cable for a few minutes. Then connect the USB cable and reconnect the power cord and see if it appears in System Information. If it still fails to appear then the printer could be the cause. Do you have another computer you can test it with or know someone with a computer who could check the USB on the printer?

Pahu - you're the best!  Turning off the printer and unplugging it for a few minutes worked.  I also tested it on my old Dell to make sure it worked and it did there.  Thank you!
