how to keep songs in your library but delete it off your ipod?

If you have Sync only ticked songs and videos turned on, then turn off the tick-box (un-check them) in your iTunes Songs Library and then Sync the iPod with iTunes.

Or, just swipe left or right the songs on the iPod and tap the Delete button that appears.

won't deleting them on the iPod simply cause iTunes to put them back on the iPod at the next Sync?
