Iphone 4 ear speaker quiet!

My iphone 4 ear piece volume is extremelly quiet ( with volume on maximum ) The ring speaker is fine, when on a call and on loud speaker fine, with the earphone jack in thats fine too.

Is this the ear piece coming to the end of its life?

Obviously its out of warrenty...... Does anyone think an apple store will help?
