Verizon iPad data warnings

We have multiple iPads on post-paid 5GB data plans in our business account with Verizon. They're a mixture of 3rd and 4th generation iPads as well as a few mini's. Almost all of them at some point have shown the following message: "Cellular Data Plan Usage - There is no data remaining on your current plan. Would you like to add more data now? If you don't add now, you can do it later in settings." The user will call or email me and I'll check their line and they always have plenty of data left for the cycle. I've called Verizon and they just tell me to power cycle the iPads which does clear the message but it will come back at some point. Since this is Verizon's only response when I've called about it, is there any way to get this cleared up for good that they possibly don't know of? Thanks.

iPad, The iPads are all running iOS 6.0-6

I activated an Ipad mini last Saturday. Before I even got it home, I had the "no data" pop up. Called Verizon, the rep seemed very surprised about my problem, but did the reset and everything was fine. Today it happened again, 15 minutes on the phone with one rep, who cold dropped me into Apple customer service without telling me, and without explaining my problem to Apple. Called back to Verizon, got a new rep, who escalated me to "level 2" and we went through the "reprovision" bs. 12 hours later, I have the same problem. I am disgusted.

Just thought I would chime in myself. I just left feedback to apple using the link near the top of this thread.

My iPad problems are twofold; the no data left message, and very poor connectivity. I use my iPhone 5 as a guide; if it has anything less than 4 bars LTE, then I know my iPad has no chance connecting. Multiple trips to both Apple's Genius Bar, and the Verizon store, have not fixed the problem. One Verizon rep thought that they can swap out my Sim card and that may fix things… But it only made things worse because now I'm on a monthly plan instead of a prepaid plan and I have to remember to pay my bill. Verizon can point the finger at Apple all they want, but the politics of Verizon cellular service are really a pain. :-(

I thought my iPad would be a great tool, and the cellular plan would help me a lot when I'm on the road (I travel often). But it has been so frustrating to use I'm thinking of just canceling my service and using it as a Wi-Fi iPad. Where as it's nice to know I'm not alone, it still stinks but the problem isn't solved.

Hoping for better days...

About a week ago, I called Apple yet again about the open ticket that I have had for months re this problem. I got a senior advisor who asked me if the problem had been referred to the Apple engineering team during any of my past calls. I did not know but she checked and it had not. I shared with them all of the steps that had previously been taken (see my prior post) and I also shared the link to this Apple Support Community. They had several fits and starts, which made me initially think that this was going to be yet another frustrating and fruitless exchange. But the engineering team came back and said that the problem would be addressed in a future software upgrade (sound familiar??!!). I said that we had heard this before and that I wanted timing. I got a definitive response that the solution is to be part of the new iOS release this fall. I tried to tie them down on timing and was not successful, but they conjectured (just like we have heard) that it will be September. I again asked if the "fix" will be part of a separate software upgrade or part of the new iOS and I got confirmation on the latter.

This just started happening to me. I've had my iPad since March 2012, and had data turned on most of last summer, then in September & October. This year I turned in on July 17. My renewal is Sept 17 and I've only used few hundred mbs. I'm getting the message while at home on wifi.

Last month I was using it while away and it was like being on dial up. I am on Verizon and was not using LTE. My 4s was working fine though.

I don't recall having such speed issues last year, and I never had this message pop up before unless it was time to renew my data.

Unfortunately, I continue to have the same problem with my iPad 3 and verizon, after upgrading to ios7. Seems like every 2 or 3 days, I have to go through the routine of renewing network settings and then reprovisioning the account. The renewing takes maybe 3 or 4 minutes, reprovisioning is instant. Then I have to reenter the passwords for the various wifi networks that I log into. Annoying.

I have iOs 7 and ive gotten the similar issue before and after the update with not recording my payment on my prepaid data plan. If I run low on data for the month and I prepay for more data, when I run out it doesn't remember that I payed for more. It gives me the popup: "Celular data plan Usage" : There is no data remaining on your current plan. Would you like to add more data now?" and "Could not activate cellular data network. You are not subscribed to a cellular data service." I have to then call Verizon wireless prepaid and they see it on their pc and they reset it or something and it works.

Best thing to do is to let your data plan run out. and THEN add the data. Annoying, but what can you do..

Apple has STILL failed to fix this despite iOS 7 and a couple sub-updates.

We have an iPad 2 and iPad 4 (plus 2 iPhones) on our shared Verizon plan.

This error only appears on the iPad 4. It began several months ago, and happens constantly. No solution listed here (restarts, SIM cards, etc) makes it go away for long. This often interrupts in the midst of working, and we're usually using it where there's no WiFi.

Same problem here. Still no fix, but I'd like to offer 2 comments.

1- I've seen several comments here about " . . it thinks it's on a prepaid plan" As if a prepaid plan would be immune. Not so. My iPad IS on a prepaid plan, and I get the same problem, and yes, I had plenty of data left.

2- A quicker workaround? My Verizon rep recommended I turn ON the 'cellular roaming' option. That fixes it, then you can turn roaming right back OFF again. Probably quicker than recycling power.

btw, the rep never mentioned I should turn roaming back off. That was my fumbling discovery. Wonder how leaving it ON might have cost, had the regular verizon signal gone down for an extended time??. Anyway, on my iPad, just cycling the roaming switch fixes the problem . . . . for a while 😟
