How do i backup my Mac from recovery, How do i backup my Mac from recovery

today i opened my macbook pro running 10.8 and i couldnt work on it i restared and then it opened recovery mode saying the disk need to be repaired i tried to repair it but it didnt work out and now i want to backup all my stuff and reinstall 10.8 how do i do that??
