What if doing this says that my software is up to date, but it isn't. Im running Mac 10.5.8, so I can't get itunes 10.7 which means i can't put music on my iphone 5! I am beginnging to think I should just take my iphone back because this is ridiculous!

I am trying to put songs onto my brand new iPhone. I have itunes version 10.6.3 and it says that I need 10.7 or earlier in order to sync the IPhone, so I found that download, attempted to download it, but now it says you need Mac OS X 10.6.8 or better. I'm running 10.5.8, can't find anywhere on the website an option to update my computer to 10.6.8, tried the software update option and it comes up saying my software is up to date. I am now extremely frustrated and ready to take my iPhone back to future shop and to tell them to keep it. I had this exact same problem when I got my new iPad in october. It still doesn't have any music on it because I could figure this out. Someone please help!

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.8), need help with itunes for iphone

To update your OS from 10.5 to 10.6, You need to purchase the 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Operating Disks, as 10.6 is not downloadable. You can purchase these disks from the on-line apple store - http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard.

Snow Leopard System Requirements (10.6) - http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575.

Correct. When you purchase devices, they would have stated the OS they needed to work, on the box. This can be overlooked, but it is very important to check when purchasing.

You current OS, is so old, that they technology build into the new devices, is not something your OS understands. It didn't exist when your OS was created, and therefore you need to upgrade the OS to work with the newer technology of these devices.

10.6 software is not downloadable. You must purchase a DVD disc. You can order it from the on-line apple store
