Updating questions - icloud

I have a pc - which needs updating, and an ipod classic, which now has a damaged screen. I use my ipod classic as a hard drive I think - every song is on the ipod as well as on the pc hard drive. I know the ipod classic isn't compatible with icloud, but when I get a new pc and load itunes, can I "download" my music from the ipod classic to the new pc and save the music from the new pc to the cloud instead of the hard drive?
