Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
I have an issue where the same computer is showing up in the sidebar shared devices... I reformatted the machine and gave it the name 27-galowitch, however you'll see:
27-cgalowitch
27-cgalowitch (2)
27-cgalowitch (3)
That is the old computer and it has been about 4 weeks since I reformatted it and those instances still remain.
Any recommendations on how to get this to disappear?
Have you tried simply deleting the others?
Try go to Finder > Preferences > Sidebar and uncheck all shared items.
Now re-check it.
If that didn't help, then do the same then go to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key and choose Library. Then go to Preferences folder and trash these files:
com.apple.finder.plist
com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
Then, restart, or log out and in again.
(You will have to reset a few finder prefs the way you like them.)
I have the same problem and have not been able to figure this out. Tried both of these suggestions with no luck. Any other ideas?
