i have the same thing this morning. my alarm did not go off and my battery was dead. totally late for work. i just charged it an hour ago and now looking into my phone, i got 52% battery life. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!!! i want to revert back to ios 5 😟...somebody help...4S user 😟
I have an iPhone 4 and experienced the exact same issue this morning. I think someone forgot to QA this release as this issue is pretty significant. My device is totally useless at this point. I have to keep it plugged into an outlet then the stupid thing gets hot.
Apple could care less if we are having issues. The fact that this problem started in SEPTEMBER 2012, and they release a "fix" a few days ago that is a dud proves me that profit is their prime motive.
They have their money and therefore have no incentive to make quality products or support them.
Again I would recommend you all to reset your iPhone completely, and NOT restore it from a previous backup. It's a bit of a hazzle, but you can allways sync most of your data back on the phone without restoring from backup if you activate all the syncing and remember to do this one time before resetting.
I did this the morning after the fix came, because it seemed it did not work for me either. After doing it, my phone (almost for the first time since buying my iPhone 5) has been working normal with normal battery drainage. I also use exchange mail and calendar!
If you try this, it would be nice if you guys cold tell your result here for others to see!
hi Colgol, i reset mine last night and restore it from backup and still drained my battery. woke up with it again dead as a brick. anyways, i will try resetting it and start it as a new device and see if that works. i will post my results soon.
Yup! I tried to reset and restore, and that did not work. Seemes to work when i started it as a new device, but i'm now possibly experiencing the problems again after a couple of days as new device.. I'll post again with an update when I know for sure.
I did my upgrade 2 nights ago. Backup - Upgrade - Reset (Erase Everything) - Restore.
The phone has been on since 8:30am, it's now 11pm, just light phone, use, what's app, messages, wifi browsing, exchange email/calender. It's now at 45%. I am pretty satisfied with it. Befre 6.1.2 upgrade by 5pm, I would be 40%, and by 9pm, I would be <20%. For me this battery issue is pretty much solved with 6.1.2. Also I noticed that my phone (4s) dont seem to get hot that much anymore. :-)
Reset and start a new device seems to work. im still at 100% after 32 mins standby 10 mins usage. looking good so far. BTW, since it's the first time i've done this, is there a way i can get back my apps, music and contacts when i did my backup without using "restore backup"? i also did a "transfer purchases" before resetting my 4S. What should I do next??? Thanks
You sholud be able to sync that back to the phone, if you have synced it before with the old setup. You do that by going to the Phone-part when in itunes and with the phone connected to the Computer, and den choose what to sync.
oh ok. i do see my apps but the Info part...my contacts are not per my "back up". i checked sync contacts, calendars, mail accounts but none of them are the ones i had before. where can i locate this on my folders (using win xp) and how to point it to sync it. thanks.
I know this is probably too late for most of you, but I learned with my iPhone3, never ever upgrade your ios while you own the phone, or you are asking for a universe of trouble and problems. I upgraded my iPhone 3 ios and the phone slowed down to a crawl, the calendar became almost impossible to use and battery life dwindled. From what I have read about every ios upgrade since then, the story hasn't changed.
Same issue. My battery life has gone from about 20 hours to 13. This is dreadful. I have to charge the phone constantly. 6.1.2 did nothing to fix this. I really miss Jobs. Apple has gone downhill since he died.
I did not update my 4S for a long time. I had ios 5, then day b4 yesterday, I felt fancy upgraded it to 6.1.2, it stopped vibrating. Without vibration, silent mode becomes so useless. I missed lot of calls cuz of this. I AM HATING THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Same here! iOS 6.1 had actually great battery lifetime on my iPhone 4S but after updating to iOS 6.1.2 it has gone worse than ever.. Apple needs to fix this soon!
Same here! My battery life is terrible on Iphone 4S since I updated to 6.1.2. Iphone fully charged at 11 PM when I go to sleep. In the morning dead, completely empty! I tried everything, reboot, remove all settings, complete rebuilt without old settings, rebuild spare device at our office...... Nothing works so spare your self the time and agony. No abnormal data usage or processes as far as I can see with battery and data monitoring apps. I sure hope Apple comes with a fix soon.
