iphone 5 not recognized in itunes during 6.1.2 update

I plugged the phone in my computer running Windows 8, ran the update, left the rooom, came back to see the Itunes/USB plug icons on my Iphone.

I've had no problems in the past running the 6.1.1 update or syncing prior.

I have re-installed Itunes, still nothing.

Any suggestions?

Your phone is in recovery mode.

You are going to have to unplug and replug you phone to the computer and restore it.

when you plug your phone into itunes you will get a messege saying your phone is in recovery mode and needs to be restored

click on restore

if it says it needs to be updated click on restore and update.

and it will redownload the software and restore it.

I just encountered the same issue in my iPhone 5 with hanging in the iTune connect icons.

So Ihave connected to my MacBook air and the iTune runs automatically.

However, my iPhone 5 selection have not been shown up in the top left hand side of my iTune.

So I am not able to choose my iPhone5 to restore.

So I cannot continue and stuck in here.

Anybody can help? Thanks.

I am having the same problem, updated my iphone 4s and what seemed a completed update landed onto a recovery screen in continues loop, not recognised by iTunes or by Windows 7, and unable to to get out of this mode...this is crazy have looked at so many web sites including here for a solution to this nightmare...I use my phone for everything, and this is causing me alot of stress and problems for work.

I wish Apple could just come up with a solution to this problem, because when you do a search for this problem, there are hundreds of people desperate for a solution, so it is not an isolated incedent.

Please help, many Thanks

What I did finally today:

- Update my iTune to the latest version as prompted by Mac App Store.

- After restart from my MacBook Air, the iPhone can be recognized in recovery mode

- So I follow the steps to recover my iPhone5,

- and finally the apps have been transferred back to my iPhone

Therefore, I need to manually to restore my purchased apps and some data and photos have been lost since last sync.

Some In-Apps downloaded were gone and luckily not all.

So I will remind myself: take care not to click update easily again even just from minor version number from 6.1 to 6.1.2, and without doing an immediate backup or when I am busy.

My Iphone 5, which I have previously synced with my computer, is now not recognized on Itunes, and I get a message that I must uninstall Itunes on my computer and re install for 64 bit PC, which I have done severaltimes, but to no avail - can't seem to get I tunes to talk to my phone - any ideas? Apple store didn't seem to have an answer for me - this seems to have occurred since a Microsoft update in April.
