poor battery life AFTER updated to 6.1.2

I just updated to iOS 6.1.2, and now my battery life seems to be worse than before. As I am typing this, I have seen my battery % tick down 1%. There are no apps running.

I am going to make it as brief as possible my 1 month experience with my brand new Iphone 5

-Januarry 11 - I purchase the Iphone 5

-First day the phone battery lasted on stand by for more than 24 hours

-Second day, I upgraded the software for IOS 6.1

-Battery issies begun. Battery on stand by last 4 - 6 hours

-I took the Iphone to Apple Store, they say everything is OK, that I had too many apps or that I should have make the restoration process from "New Iphone" instead backing up.

-I do the New Iphone thing and the battery now lasts more than 24 hours on Stand By

-Then Comes 6.1.1

-Battery drain problems are back

-Restoring the Iphone as NEW does not works this time. I have to charge 3 times a day my Iphone 5

-Yesterday 6.1.2 addressing to fix this bug

-I do the upgrade. Worst than before, battery drains 10% in 10 Minutes in Stand by!!

-I cant make the battery to fully charge to 100%, no matter how long I plug it, even overnight, after 8 hours, I was expecting a 100% charge, but it was at 97%!!!! With all apps closed, WIFI and Bluetooth OFF

-I do the whole restoring process from NEW again. - NOTHING!! - It has been only 3 hours since i Umppluged it and now I have 33% and thats because I charge it on my car on my way to Work, about 30 minutes.

-6.1.2 its even worst that 6.1.1

Do you have Mail configured/setup and if so is it set to 'fetch' or 'push' ? If you do, try removing the mail accounts, power off and then power your iPhone back on. Don't touch or use the phone and see if the battery life is somewhat stable again.

If it is then try adding the mail account back again and see how it goes. If you have more than one mail account, try just creating the one you use the most first as a test. If all good then create the others one at a time.

Also, is your WiFi on the phone working properly? If it's not that could also be contributing to the rapid battery drain.

FWIW, I ran into the rapid battery drain back when iOS 5 came out. Removing and adding the mail accounts solved my problem. When 6.1 came out, same thing but it was also my Twitter and Facebook app that was contrubuting to the drain; all I did to correct it was to log out of both the apps, power cycle the phone and log back in and things were back to normal again.

HTH...

Okay so yesterday for some reason my iPhone was as hot as a toaster and so was my friend's (From 10am to 5:30pm). Then I see there is a 1.6.2 upgrade and I am like "oh makes sense". I upgraded my iPhone seemed to cool down (this done in my house after work hours receiving minimum e-mails).

So I go to sleep with 77% of my iPhone battery with its alarm on.

Turns up that my battery died while sleeping and my alarm never came on which caused me to keep sleeping and get late to work! (Issue seems to continue in the e-mail part of the smartphone).

Apple seriously fix the issue. You owe me now a pay day of work.

And for everyone who solves the issues by disabling e-mails... what's the point of a good smartphone if you can't use all the characteristics. Seriously thinking on Samsung for my next smartphone unless this gets a fix.

I installed 6.1.1 and 6.1.2 at same time. I don't use Exchange and I didn't have any battery life issues until after this update. My phone habits and usage have not changed. I didn't even make it to noon today before I had to charge my phone. This is unacceptable. I did notice that my phone appears to be searching for a personal hotspot continuously, although I have never used one. Is it possible this is contributing to the drain? Is it like location services or time zones where phone will continuously seek to update even if your location hasn't changed?
